The Mind Your Head Challenge is being launched on Friday August 12th 2011 at Kingston Maurward College between 4 and 6 pm. This is part of our social responsibility project The Phoenix Legacy. Its purpose is to have mentally active people gaining greater independence and enjoyment from their later years. We aim to create a sustainable legacy that increases mental wellbeing of people over 50 in Dorset through greater brain stimulation and self care. This will be partly achieved through the registration and promotion of ‘Brain Cells’.

We are proud to be working with Tony Buzan’s Brain Trust charity and are delighted that Philip Chambers, Reigning World Mind Mapping Champion, will be attending the launch on their behalf. He will be giving a short workshop on mind mapping and memory.

On Sunday August 12th 2012, there will be a major conference and exhibition, which will include speakers such as Tony Buzan, Dominic O’Brien, Professor Crawford and Leontxo Garcia Olagasti, who will cover topics related to mental wellbeing. Tickets are available for this unique event at early booking prices.

If you are interested in getting involved as a participant, registering as an organisation that provides mental activities, would like to sponsor this innovative programme, or would like an invitation to the launch, please contact us for more detail.

Training for Results is also running a series of Mind Your Head courses for employers and managers on maximising the brain power in the business. Details are on our upcoming courses.

Congratulations to Stella English, who won the Apprentice last night. This is in no small part to her determination and powerful positive belief that she can achieve anything if she puts her mind to it. She is a fantastic example of what self belief can accomplish against difficult odds. What a worthy winner.

Building Powerful Positive Beliefs is a recipe for success and is a new workshop we have developed recently in conjunction with Christopher Bayliss, Fastgrowth Services. We ran three of these this month. The entrepreneurs who attended are all highly successful people. They meet monthly in Vector Groups to develop strategies to triple the value of their businesses in three years.

During the workshop, we identified what success people wanted from 2011 and then looked at what might hold them back. It never ceases to amaze me what limiting beliefs people carry and how that influences their performance.(myself included!) Every person then built their new positive belief and action plan to achieve it.

Each event proved inspirational, because the new beliefs generated were so powerful and when implemented will make an even more successful future. Examples of the positive new beliefs are:

I have all the necessary abilities to achieve what I want

I choose organisation over chaos

Everything I do delivers high value & impact for customers

Christopher Bayliss says ‘The design of the workshop was brilliant. Rosie facilitated the 2 hour session for 3 Vector Strategy Groups. Each Group comprised of 12 Managing Directors and Business Leaders. All 36 attendees said how powerful and valuable they found the content. Rosie Barfoot is an accomplished business coach and workshop facilitator who helps participants achieve great results for themselves and their companies”

Stella can celebrate her success and 2011 should be a wonderful year for her. Ken and I wish you every success in the year ahead.

As Christopher Reeve said in his autobiography, Still Me: “Our dreams at first seem impossible and then they seem improbable, then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

What will you make inevitable for 2011?

A Positive Approach to Succession: November 25th

We had a great event this week, which we designed in conjunction with Business Link, on the thorny subject of succession planning for farmers. Those that came found it ‘positive, enlightening and interesting’. One couple said how important it was to realise you’re not alone or stupid, as others face the same problems.

The seminar was chaired by Roger Smith of Business Link. Ken Barfoot highlighted the key aspects to consider, followed by a great presentation on 10 top financial tips from Iain McVicar of Albert Goodman. John Hole, who farms at Kimmeridge, told the Hole Story, as an example of successful succession planning. He gave a superb and inspiring talk on what they have done as a family business. In the afternoon, Rosie focused on the practical skills of succession, namely effective delegation and conflict resolution.

Everyone went away with something they could do to improve their prospects of successful outcomes. We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported this event. We hope we can run it again. Please contact us if you would like more detail.
